It almost sounds a bit too generic, like, after giving it a first listen, you’ve already heard it a lot before…
The thing is, you probably haven’t. Listen again and think about the lyrics.
Turns out, the song’s not what it seems to be like on the service level.
Which is kind of what the whole thing’s about, isn’t it?
Chained To The Rhythm actuallyhas strong social and political messages, particularly that humans are happily numb to any dangers we might be facing.
And Katy definitely means to imply it against our current president. (But I’m not really going into that..This is an entertainment blog over here!)

AWW! I think what got me (and others) into this song was her emotional acoustic American Idol performance of this. It’s super powerful! The original is great too! I never really knew about her background with her father before this. The song is definitely brave. Her songs about her husband Brandon (this and the lighter Winter Dreams on her Christmas album) are really sweet! ❤
