I FREAKING LOVE YOU DEMI!! Album Review: Demi Lovato “Tell Me You Love Me”

Time for another DOPC album review of MY LOVE, MY QUEEN, AND MY EVERYTHING!!! ❤ ❤

(Yeah the title is mushy and cupcake stan-ish, but considering my titles on reviews are wordplay based on the titles of the things I’m reviewing… it was Too. Freaking. Easy!)

So, on October 4th 2016 (I looked it up, chill, I have limits to my superfandom! The fact that I’m not too good at memorizing dates in the first place has absolutely nothing to do with it! 😉 ) Demi said she was frustrated with the music industry (and the internet tbh) and decided to take a break.

SHE FINALLY GOT HER FIRST INCREDIBLY WELL-DESERVED GRAMMY NOMINATION!!!!

And, now, a year later, …. we’re HERE!!!! 😀 😀

Where is here??!

PURE, ANGELIC, SOULFUL, HIGHKEY-GLITTERY, GIVE-IT-EVERY-DAMN- GRAMMY, GOLDEN PERFECTION?!?! Her most sonically cohesive and potential BEST ALBUM EVER??!!!! (I say this every time, I gotta be careful, BUT DANNNNGGGGGG!!!!)

Tell Me You Love Me was released September 29, 2017, and is a super smooth blend of soul and pop. Like, it’s freaking effortless for her… Like you wouldn’t think it was Demi’s first time trying more soulful R&B music!! Her previous album Confident did have songs where it was tested like Stone Cold (HEA-VEN!) and Yes, but Tell Me You Love Me is much more full on!! (My review of Confident is here by the way… You know, for comparison! Tell Me You Love Me is also as personal to Demi as ever, since she wanted to drop the radio pop bops and be inspired by a vocal legend like Christina Aguilera and her 2002 album Stripped. (Xtina herself ended up praising the album on Instagram, wow I’m proud!, COULD YOU EVEN IMAGINE IF THESE TWO COLLABED?!?! WOULD IT BE TOO POWERFUL FOR THIS WORLD?!?!)

NO COMPLAINTS OVER HERE!! God knows Demi can not just pull off any genre (Rock, Pop, Dance, EDM, Country, Soul) but

PULL. IT. OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This new direction is both authentic and BRILLIANTTTTT!!!!!!

Newsflash from a Lovatic that has probably literally, LITERALLY, heard it a million times, IT. DOESN’T. GET. OLD!!

SASS, FUN, BASS, VOCALS, A TELLING OFF HATERS ANTHEM, WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED?!?!

That pre-chorus still gets me HYPED!! Unless, it’s the radio/clean version, which annoys me cause it’s less fun.

However, SNS is consistently high on both the charts and with radio plays so who’s freaking WINNING now?!

2) Tell Me You Love Me: We’re only on track 2 and she’s not only SLAYING IT SO DAMN HARD, but she’s taking us to church!! (Usually doesn’t happen this soon on her albums haha)

(That’s literally insane that it’s basically been half my life.. and it’s only going to increase, so that eventually I will have been a Demi stan for longer in my life than I haven’t…. CRAZY!/A thought I’ve had.)

3) Sexy Dirty Love

THE TITLE ALONE HAD ME QUAKING WHEN IT WAS ANNOUNCED!

Sexy Dirty Love… more like… Sexy Demi Love…

Okay, but NAME A SEXIER, GREATER, BOP…. I’ll wait!!!

GREAT BEAT!

“I’m lying awake wondering why I’m still alone” … uhhhh same!

“Sendin pictures back and forth, babe I’m craving your touch” DEMI!! :o..so pictures like the (iconic) 2015 Vanity fair photo shoot? 😉 WOW, I’m DONE!

“Intoxicate me gently with your loving”  . . . YES. . . PL EA SE!!

The whole pre-chorus is SO FUN AND GREAT TO SING, WOW! ….And then you wind up unable to hit the notes in the CHORUS because Demi’s vocals are TOO DAMN PERFECT! Like problematically perfect when she puts those notes in the CHORUS aka the part where everyone else is supposed to sing too! Lmao! This isn’t the only song with this problem, because I have a concert video where she asks us to sing along with the chorus of Heart Attack…and my conclusion is she does it to tease us! … It’s EXTRA… but BRILLIANT!

Demi says the album was Christina Aguilera inspired, and.. MAN AM I HEARING IT HERE! This totally could have been Xtina’s song and the vocals would still have been EXTRA and probably even more EXTRA than necessary but that would be expected! (Side note: Unlike Xtina, Demi knows how to properly distribute the EXTRAness of the vocals across the song so that it isn’t overkill… just saying 😉 )

“Let’s play *out* this fantasy” That little squeak in her voice is everything!! OMG, Can’t tell if it’s cute or hot! 😉 I’ve been wanting to find a clip on twitter of just that part to replay it, ever since the early release of this song, and I finally did the other day! #LovaticProblemsAF

My vote is for this and/or Games as Demi’s next singles off this album, because THEY’RE SO FUN AND PERFECT FOR IT!!

4) You Don’t Do It For Me Anymore

The runs on the pre-chorus are ENOUGH, but once it hits the chorus it’s just like….

…. Demi do you ever get tired of sounding like THAT! … or…?! #OmgAlmostTooMuch!

On a serious note for a second.. you might think that this is about a breakup and it is, but it’s not about a guy!

It’s a self reflective song, about her breaking up with her old negative habits (Old Ways?!) like drugs and alcohol.. and WOW, I’M PROUD!! 🙂

And…

One more time…. VOCALS!!!!! YAAASSS!!!!!!!!

5) Daddy Issues

Not gonna lie, it’s a weird song!! This does not go where you initially think it might… and… I have a Semi-Problematic fave!! (Yet the idea might be kind of genius?!) GOSH!

Demi’s previous songs dealing with her birth father ( For The Love Of A Daughter off of Unbroken, Father off of Confident and to a degree, Shouldn’t Come Back and Warrior off of DEMI) are all highly in the category of “Tearjerking autobiographical ballad” (I don’t even listen to them very much, can’t even imagine.. 😦 )

But,

This one is not!! Oh no, it’s a light BOP with some serious (semi-screwed-up) lyrics!

I’m really loving video-game sounding back beats!! (I’ve always liked the music on my gameboy games as a kid!) First Taylor Swift did it and now Demi, I’m happy!!

“LUCKY. FOR. YOU. !” Fricking syncopated HEAVEN!!

The chorus is where it gets weird to me… OH MY GOSH, THANK GOD THE MUSIC IS SO BOPPY/THE BEATS ARE SO GREAT AND THE LYRICS COULD BE WORSE..  I HATE this trend of calling hot guys “Daddy” because I think it sounds really messed up and have problems seeing it in like a non-incestuous way… just NOPE!

“Don’t know how to commit… but I might want your kid” This line’s funny though!

It’s bouncy, catchy/will get stuck in your head, and great even if I don’t know how to feel about the lyrics… So I know I’m stuck with my fairly-problematic queen!

6) Ruin The Friendship: The most SUPRISING, SHOCKING, AND SHOOKY subject matter on the whole album, in addition to being another fairly misleading title.

The song deals with wanting to turn a friendship, into a romantic relationship, which is typical sounding enough, right?

Now, I don’t always speculate who a specific song from a specific artist might be about, because it doesn’t always matter, and the media focus on it too much anyway…

However, sometimes speculation can be fun, and, just other times….the song makes it fairly obvious who it is about on it’s own!

And evidence points to this song being about none other than

NICK JONAS!!!

Let’s talk this one out! THEORY TIMEEE!!!

“Put down your cigar and pick me up, play me your guitar that song I love” Nick is known to be fond of both cigars and guitars!

On a first impression, you’d think “Ruining the friendship” would mean by breaking up, not hooking up!

But, now I’m going to use it to mean ruining it by hooking up! See my example sentence: So, Nick and Demi, did you ever “Ruin the Friendship”?!? 😉

More trumpets, because Demi + trumpets is also able to mean SEXY business! (Hahaha I think Confident (the song) proves that one too!)

The echoing is great haha!

She didn’t write on this one… (She did on most of the album though YESSS!!) but I feel like it does relate to the Wilmer relationship unfortunately. We don’t have much to go off of, I just feel like this and the next song are… I think we might even get more resolution because Demi has another documentary coming out on October 17 that relates to this album and her life.

Here’s the deal with the rap/Lil Wayne part. It’s.. tolerable, but it goes on too long, like an entire minute, and it’s one of those raps that doesn’t really add to a song, it’s just there.

And after that part Demi just does the chorus another few times, which is why I’ll end up skipping it more often than not when playing the album. I also skip forward because THE NEXT SONG IS SO PERFECT!!!

The main reason I don’t think it lives up to Body Say or Wildfire is the freaking vocal distortion effects! There’s way too much of that going on!

12) Hitchhiker

THAT TRANSITION THOUGH!! True BUTTER!! (smoothness-wise)

The music is literally so similar between this and Concentrate that it’s not even funny! I’ve thought that I was still listening to Concentrate before without noticing it switched! Then, while I was trying to learn lyrics I’d get the verse on one and the chorus of the other so it just mashed itself up! It’s kind of funny! (But..confusing!?, but genius?!)

This one’s so FREAKING CUTE!  ❤ (Since it follows the sexy Concentrate though, sometimes my feelings get a little confused..)

“As long as your the driver, I’m your hitchhiker” AWW!!  It’s clear I’ll be playing follow the leader too when I get my first boyfriend, SO, I CAN’T WAIT!! (When,When,WhenWhenWhen?!?!)

…This has been Demi’s most LoveThirsty album yet hasn’t it?!? Staying relatable aren’t you Queen?! (*SIGHS* Not when it comes to experiences!!!)

I love the “Yes I will” part! SO GOOD!!!!

I’ve been jamming to this cute lil dance bop all summer!! It’s even got it’s own lil dance too!

The amount of lyrics this actually has are kind of amusing haha!

I’m still thinking of Hot Sauce due to your branding Jax! Works well for a Demi feature!!

Only it’s acoustic, so it’s revamped in time for fall! 🙂 PERFECT!!

The guitar and piano are so dang PRETTY!!! I initially thought that I like the EDM version better, but this is literally so chill and beautiful, and AMAZING!! It grew on me!!

The Chainsmokers…. I mean Cheat Codes… still sound generic….. but they support Demi like A LOT which I have to respect!

I love that little”Ohh” Demi does, it’s better by itself!

As far as deluxe albums go, Acoustic versions of songs >>>>> Remixes!! TAKE NOTE DEMI/PHILYMACK!! (But….more new songs > > acoustic versions.. you could work it out so that there’s both!)

GOD, IT’S SO PEACEFUL!!! Would listening to more soft things like this fix our world?! Couldn’t hurt!!

I saw a tweet comparing it to a Taylor Swift song and I agree that the chorus is very Swift-like! (Which equals = REALLY DAMN GREAT!!)

But, the verses go a bit deeper!

One of my favorite things about Demi is her across-the-board honesty, including in all her music! It’s so brave and it’s GREAT!

It’s very self-reflective! Which relationship was this?   ….. (I suppose Dilmer bc long term and a quote I read about how he might not have helped deal with her health issues in the best way?….Fans can’t know everything.)

Fortunately over the past 2 years, through a Grammy nomination (!!!), 2 performances, a few museum visits and several articles, the Recording Academy is seeming quite fond of Demi! (About time!!)

to a STUNNING set of 2008 throwback-looking photos for Glamour magazine,

followed by a goofy video of her giving an in-depth tour of what’s on her cell phone!

But, things actually aren’t that bright at all in the world of Queen Demi.  😦

You see, sometimes people on the internet, whether intentional (haters), or not (trolls), happen to take their comments too far. Far enough to hit a breaking point when combined with misinterpretive media coverage and someone who might already feel depressed and bad about herself. (Demi being bipolar should be considered here. Should be considered when discussing/critiquing any of her words or actions (Usually words are the “issue” though).

I’ll skim this over, but there was a bit of an issue last Friday (and another slightly smaller one Thursday), that delt with her dealing with assholes on the internet that may have lead up to the recent news. Essentially, Demi liked a drawing of herself on Instagram, calling it “gorgeous” but critiquing the proportions of the drawing, calling it “not my body” due to a smaller waist and bigger boobs.

It seemed like the did intentionally change her body, and I get how an artist may accidentally draw some proportions wrong,  but that can’t be the best way of accepting criticism, especially when it makes her doubt herself like that! 😦 It’s really heartbreaking to see her saying those things and feeling that low.

To make matters worse, a chunk of the internet seemed to think Demi’s comments were negatively intended, and harsh things were posted, including a rude version of the drawing with even larger boobs, seen and liked by both the original artist, and Demi herself.

Fast forward to Monday, the release of Demi’s Glamour issue (or at least discussion of it because I can’t pinpoint its exact release date. The article was on the site on Tuesday (10/4).  Entertainment Tonight did a segment about it, and pulled some article quotes.In particular, Demi was asked about feminism which included a reference to Taylor Swift. ET used the quote “I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body,” implying that Demi was dissing Taylor’s “squad” of models and fellow singers. Initially hearing about this, I got annoyed with her. (I may stan her, but I’m no kiss-ass that agrees with EVERYTHING out of her mouth!) I’m sure I’m sadly in the minority, but as a huge fan of both Demi and Taylor, this feud is a sore spot for me.

Let’s look at this. The first huge thing being overlooked is her speaking out on an important topic like feminism in the first place!

“Every woman does her part in some way. But I think in certain situations certain people should be doing more.” All I’m seeing here is a true statement, overlooked in pursuit of petty drama. The first sentence could even be implied in Taylor’s favor if you absolutely must read into it specifically!

“anybody in any sort of squad” It seems pretty general to me. Granted, a small Taylor Swift implication is definitely in there and I have a bit of an issue with the wording, but I believe she meant well.

She has a valid point about Bad Blood. (As much as it makes me uneasy to agree with that. Sometimes, girls go against each other. Taylor wrote about it, as she does with other life experiences.) “We all do things that aren’t” Hey, look! It’s something else to Taylor’s credit that gets ignored by all media!

In context, it’s not really so horrible!

I didn’t know that speaking your mind was a sin! It’s one of my very favorite things about Demi, and something I truly look up to her for because, quite often, I’m anxious about saying anything at all. All that happens because of it, is her getting brutally torn to shreds by people that don’t understand how AMAZING this quality is!  SHE. DESERVES. NONE. OF. IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Context is important. After this incident, I’m a bit more concerned about media’s misquoting and the damage it may bring. I know it must happen a lot. I too am guilty of making assumptions and forming opinions based on celebrity quotes. But, do these quotes have a fair chance of being completely accurate? Yes! Should they be completly accurate and reliable? Yes!!

Good point. I happen to care about your interviews because I love you and love to hear from you Demi, but that’s not always the case. It makes sense if you read the interviews as a fan, and/or to playfully distract yourself from your “shit to worry about” ,  it’s just another whole thing to be deliberately mean about the interviews.

The break itself isn’t the worst part. Nope, that itself may suck, but it’s not what make me cry and feel really horrible because I really love her and care about her. (Does this love go beyond fandom? I think so. It’s deep, she feels like my actual friend/family.) This Instagram reply and its meaning is what caused that! What’s happened here, is probably one of the saddest things to happen to Demi/Lovatics since the end of 2010 and all of the great (sarcasm!!) things that happened then!

MEETING DEMI LOVATO TWICE IN THE SAME DAY, HUGGING HER, AND FRONT ROW?!?!? DEMI LOVATO AND NICK JONAS FUTURE NOW TOUR RECAP/REVIEW!!

Weren’t you just wondering when I’d review a full Demi concert? Considering it’s the FIFTH time I’ve seen her live, HOW DID I GET LUCKY ENOUGH TO EVEN BE DOING THIS?!?!?!

ALSO, MY TITLE. IT’S. FREAKING. ALL. TRUE.

On Wednesday September 7th 2016, I went to Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas’s Honda Civic (#Spon) Future Now tour at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville Tennessee.

If you read the post before this, you’ll know that, that afternoon, I went to a radio station’s rooftop pool party, meet Demi and Nick, and saw them get interviewed!! SO EPICCC!!!

Now, before I saw that the radio contest was ever a thing, I GOT DEMI’S SPECIAL VIP M&G PACKAGE BECAUSE I’M HARDCORE AF!!! How, you ask?? My mom promised to give me the exact amount of gift money that the package was if I got an A in my summer class, AND I DID, SO THIS WAS BASICALLY DESTINED TO BE!!! 😀

THE M&G STORY, THE THIRD AND BEST TIME MEETING MY QUEEN:

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH THIRD TIME IS DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY, THE CHARM!!

VIP check in was 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm and after the pool party, it was around 2:40 pm, so I didn’t want to stop hanging out with the group of friends I’d made there, but when we went to get lunch, I really realized that I had TO GET OUT! I was hot and sweaty, and I needed to change my outfit, charge my phone/get the charger, go to the bathroom, touch up my hair, and maybe add lipstick? In other words, I needed to hurry back to my dorm room and do these tasks as quickly as possible, and I’m not good at getting ready quickly.

I left the dorm and got a Lyft at around 3:45 and was stupidly confused about the location of the m&g, so I had it going for a while. (It was actually right in the venue. Words can be tricky.) On top of that, I think the car managed to hit ALL THE RED LIGHTS. NEED I MENTION I’M ON A TIME CRUNCH?! TO MEET DEMI?!?! IT’S A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION?!?!?! (Not really, but you know how strongly I feel towards Demi. I basically say it everywhere.)

So… this situation wasn’t nerve-wracking AT ALL! I get there RIGHT CUTTING IT CLOSE TO 4:15 PM, and even a minute or so later! I’m running to it at this point. I ask where to go, and have to knock on the door, BUT THANKFULLY I WAS LET IN, AND ALLOWED TO CHECK IN, AND I WASN’T THE LAST  ONE EITHER.

I wore my pink converse, the same jean shorts from the pool party, a new pink striped shirt, and my ADORABLE silver infinity Lovatic necklace. PLUS A NEW M&G WRISTBAND AND THE SHINY, FLAWLESS, FUN-TO-SWING-AROUND, VIP PASS WITH DEMI ON IT! (It’s a real rush the moment you’re getting the upgrades like WOOOO!)

While in line, I heard Nick Jonas sound-checking and it was neat! I heard him sound-checking the old NJ and the Administration song State Of Emergency but he didn’t do it at the show. 😦 I also heard them sound-checking Demi Lovato’s duet with Brad Paisley, Without A Fight, SO THAT’S WHEN I FOUND OUT THEY’D BE PERFORMING THAT!!

The HOST service people had us put our stuff (For me, my phone and purse) on a table, and then we were lead down some stairs underneath the arena. We waited down there for about 30 minutes (Iphoneless, great… BUT I COULD TRY TO MENTALLY PREPARE TO MEET DEMI! Emphasis on try, because during the pic, my brain would inevitably shut down again.)

Going into it, I was determined to (finally!! I’ve wanted to for a long enough time, especially after shit went down at the end of 2010) actually hug her. The other two times I meet her, had been group pictures, and I was worried about Max, her security guard and overall, Demi has said she gets pretty anxious when fans hug her. But this time, those magical, precious 35 seconds were just me and her, and I had to make the most of it and do it!!! Seeing previous hugging meet and greet pictures for this tour and the fact that she seemed in a good mood at the pool party, helped settle the fact that I really was gonna DEFINITELY go for it!!!

The thought process this time, was that I was gonna say hi (I medium-key regret not saying anything to her the second time/the time earlier that day, but I’m not surprised about it.) , ask for the hug, and call her beautiful.

We were lead into a large empty lot, and WHO DO WE SPOT, STANDING THERE, CASUALLY PLAYING SOME BASEBALL?!?! Nick. Freaking. Jonas. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (as if my heart wasn’t already beating out of my chest!!) ALSO HE WALKED RIGHT PAST OUR M&G LINE, LIKE WHAT EVEN?!?!?!??!?!? “Nice seeing you again Nick, sorry I ignored you for Demi earlier today. You’re still very sexy and talented though!!(Well, for the price of that VIP package, YOU BETTER BE GETTING THIS AS WELL!!! Does it help the in-line nerves though???? YOU BET NOT!!)

Each step was a step closer to my QUEEN/EVERYTHING!!! As people went before me, I caught way more glances of her behind the curtains than I did with Jingle Ball and she was just SO PERFECT!! THEN I NOTICED HER TALKING TO FANS THIS TIME!!!! OKAY!!

HERE’S HOW IT WENT DOWN:

Demi: Hi.

Me: Hi!

Demi: How are you?

Me: Great!!!! (Biggest understatement ever?!?!??! I WAS HAVING THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!! But “Great” lol. The word “great” has become a joke with myself.) *gives Demi big hug with all my love, support, and appreciation for her in it*

Me: *dazedly walks out and grabs VIP merch* *immediately tears up some (Seeing the m&g pics the next day = DanatheLovatic HappyTearfest 2016)* * *sits at CAST (more on that coming up) grinning like a nut*

Demi completely in my arms, her hand on my back and arm, BOTH OF US GRINNING, HER LOOKING INSANELY GORGEOUS (AS PER ALWAYS), ME LOOKING ACTUALLY PHOTOGENIC FOR ONCE AND HAPPY AF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let’s just talk about Demi in person for a moment. See, for some it might be disappointing to meet their idols/faves, BUT I HAVE AN INCREDIBLE CASE OF MEET MINE 3 TIMES (given that it’s only about 40 seconds each time. You have to take that into consideration when making m&g expectations.)  AND SAW HER 5  TIMES AND I CAN 100% CONFIRM THAT DEMI LOVATO IS EVERYTHING I WANT HER TO BE AND MORE!! She is without a doubt, the smallest (She’s somehow about a quarter inch taller then me based of the pics, but she’s actually so short and cute!!), most adorable, most beautiful, and most talented human (Angel?!?) that I have ever seen or met!! I love her SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!

Not to mention, I FREAKING LOVE THE JACKET SHE WORE THAT DAY!!!!!!

THIS IS REAL LIFE RIGHT HERE?!? (Unbroken track 12 reference?!?) It’s right next to my 2014 Demi autograph and near my other Nick one.  THAT’S RIGHT, I SOMEHOW HAVE TWO OF EACH!!!! I somehow got blessed by insane celebrity luck beginning in 2014 (0 to maybe 40 from twitter follows to 100!!) and it hasn’t slowed down any, especially on this day! I love wearing that hat and repping my Queen, and I’m currently using that backpack for college because repping Demi and Nick and this wonderful tour experience can make school suck less!

CAST centers program and Pre-show:

So, Demi partnered up with her treatment center CAST (that shortly, after this I learned that she’s become a co-owner of!) for a hour-long motivational wellness program that anyone going to the tour could attend for free. Demi herself went to most of them and sometimes would be the speaker (as would the occasional celeb guest like Bea Miller) , but unfortunately for me, she wasn’t at the Nashville one (It’s fine! I saw her all day anyways!! 😉 😀 ).

It started off with what I’d call a hype guy (I don’t remember his name), who would talk to us excitedly and give us little challenges. The first one was for us to dance along to music that’d be playing for about 40 seconds, I guess to let our minds free from worrying about getting judged. The second one was staring directly at the person next to us for a minute, with full eye contact, which was already super-uncomfortable to me, and it would have been even worse if I hadn’t just meet/hugged Demi and wasn’t still feeling that high. The things I do for/because of my queen, let me tell you!!

The next exercise involved what the speaker guy called the “Demi three” (He mentioned that she hated that title) where first, you had a minute to talk to two people and tell them three things you liked about them, appearance or otherwise (as a Nick song played in the background). Second, you had to do this again, but say three things you liked about yourself. Still slightly awkward, but interesting!

For the next part of the program, we were asked for a volunteer over 16 from the audience, who Demi’s coach Mike Bayer (btw, the moment I saw him, my first thought was “Thank you so much for helping Demi with everything!”  He’s instantly regarded very highly to me, and during the program he mentioned helping Joe Jonas too during when he was depressed between being in Jonas Brothers and starting DNCE and MY FEELS!)  would come talk to, and it’d be videotaped (That’s why posting about it is okay right? I write what I observe.). They chose this mother, who bravely shared so much about problems in her life, including mental illness, cheating and alcoholism. It was probably one of the most intense things I’ve witnessed.

They ended up hooking the mother up with the program and Demi herself, and not long after that it ended. CAST was an interesting and unique experience that anyone, especially those going through personal struggles can benefit from, and I love how Demi had this set up!! (Can my love for her go deeper?? I’m far past the point of knowing.)

So, for the first time since early that afternoon, my SLAYED/EXCITED/HAPPY little self had actual time to do things without rushing somewhere! I was starving, considering I hadn’t had lunch that day (didn’t have time! BUT I LOVE THE REASON WHY!!!), so I got some DELICIOUS arena pizza! I also HIT UP THAT MERCH THOUGH!!!

My phone needed charging, so I sat by the station for a while and handled tweets, notifs, and texts as I ate. I also made a cute lil blanket with my new Demi shirts because my legs got cold! “The cold never bothered me anyway” 🙂

I missed most of Mike Posner’s set for the sake of my phone battery but Nick and Demi are HIGHER PRIORITIES. I did go to my seats and saw a bit of I Took A Pill In Ibiza and his poem afterward.

I thought I’d go get some cinnamon nuts  (SOOO GOOD!! I absolutely LIVE for them whenever I see them at an arena or mall!) before Nick came on, and on the way they had an autographed, Demi Lovato designed Honda Civic (as well as a motorcycle designed/signed by Nick Jonas, which was still cool but MUCH LESS COOL, Queen Demi has her own CAR!) so I had a lady take a pic of me in front of it.

THAT’S SO AWESOME! The pink blends into the black and it’s so sick!

He went into the bop Champagne Problems next, and I think the backdrop had ladies arms or something? I was really in the moment for a while, because I was so damn Close! 😉

Next was Touch, and I absolutely died because it’s one of my faves, and the setlist (A stan needs to do their research!) had said something else! It’s a real… feel good song 😉 (I’ve probably been making more puns since seeing/playing my fave video game Undertale! Maybe I’ll post about that!) Seriously though, Touch is an excellent sexy/happy song, and Nick is a total bae! ❤ ❤ ❤

Nick Jonas is excellent at the good-feelers!!! (But how is he at feeling…. nevermind 😉 ) He showed us The Difference and also did his collab with Sage the Gemini called Good Thing and it’s the one where I literally don’t know the verses because that chorus is so fun! *sings*  I know, you know, WE KNOW, WE CAN MAKE THAT GOOD SHIT KEEP HAPPENIN’!!!!

Confident has to be one of the best concert opening songs of all time, because those horns mean business, and so does SHE!!! When artists open a show, they need to SNATCH the attention of their audiences and make their hearts want to leap right out of their chests!! The Unbroken and Neon Lights tour openings (I forget, it was 2011, All Night Long?, and Heart Attack) and most other concert opening numbers I’ve seen HAVE NOTHING on this high-energy, FIERCE AF, SLAYAGE of an anthem, when it comes to filling this criteria to maximum level!!!

Next came the fitting AF song Heart Attack and I fangirl-died 200x the amount of times I put in my jingle ball 2015 recap. I have video of Demi holding the mike up to the audience here and of course that makes me sing along and I actually sound like a dying whale and it’s videotaped! UGH! WHY ARE YOU THAT FREAKING TALENTED DEMI?!? WHY DO YOU DO THAT WHEN HEART ATTACK IS ONE OF YOUR HARDEST SONGS TO SING?!

I think that’s part of why my throat hurt/felt like it was shot, the next day. I was singing/shout-singing to Nemi a whole lot that night and she made me try that dang Heart Attack chorus!!(Gloooooowwwwwwwwwwwww, Shooooooooooooooowwww) #LovaticProblems

Speaking of hypnotizing, next my Queen went into the EPIC LOVE ANTHEM FOR YOU,  as the screen behind her served some lovely kaleidoscope-patterned realness!! There’s something to be admired about a tour where some cool backdrops are as elaborate as any given performance can get. It’s just you (along with the rest of the crowd, but you can tune that part of it out) the artist(s), and their music and vocals. When you’re given a Powerhouse Queen like Demi, that experience is at FULL MIND-BLOWING CAPACITY!!! That’s a big reason this strategy worked so well for the Future Now tour, but I do love it when artists put in some theatricality to spice things up! Hopefully her management has enough sense to include some of that too next time!!

Lionheart is actually one of the most beautiful songs ever to me. It literally bleeds out so much sweetness, cuteness, and love and it’s precious!! THE BACK SCREEN FOR THIS SONG WAS THE BEST!! It was literally so beautiful and visually appealing (not as much as Demi herself, but you know 😉 ). It showed a red and later multicolored lion image, lit up with little pink and green spots.

Because I live in Nashville now, it’s really not too surprising that Demi had a country star come out as a special guest. Brad Paisley to be exact, which makes sense considering they have a recent duet they could sing called Without A Fight. Their friendship was really cute and they hugged (Did I indirectly hug Brad because I had hugged Demi (#NEVERgettingOverIt) earlier? Hahaha.) and Demi mentioned how she adorably stole Brad’s cowboy hat in the music video! Demi’s actually so cute!! ❤ ❤

Brad stayed on to play guitar, and Nick came back to play piano, for Demi’s powerful, emotional, grammy-worthy ballad Stone Cold. The studio version of Stone Cold and the mind-blowing note at the end is enough, but SEEING IT LIVE ONCE AT JINGLE BALL AND NOW AGAIN I HAVE BEEN GIVEN SO MUCH ENLIGHTENMENT!!!! As a concert-goer/fan you are just engulfed in this mind-blowing power of her vocals and emotions and, WHOA IT’S HARD TO DESCRIBE. Just listen to the video, and imagine that right in front of you and, WELL YOU STILL WON’T UNDERSTAND HOW SNATCHING AND BEYOND AMAZING THIS WAS!!! I seriously won’t ever posses the ability to have praised this song/performances of it enough!!

Nick had another small set next. As it turns out, he had a surprise country guest of his own, as he brought out Thomas Rhett for a duet of his own emotional heartbreak song Chainsaw. He continued to play the piano and I remember loving the background, even if I don’t currently remember what it was.

Then, they sang Thomas’s hit Die A Happy Man together! I love that song, I think it’s really adorable and sweet, so I got to add that experience to this already iconic night of my life. I can’t wish for more honestly.

Jealous was next, and jamming out to it is always a blast!

THE NEXT MOMENT WAS HUGE THOUGH. Nick ended his part out with Close, and guess who came and stepped in to do Tove Lo’s part! THE QUEEN DEMI HERSELF!!!!

Demi’s next part started with Skyscraper. She admitted that she had stopped doing the motivational speeches before that song this tour, but I think meeting the lady from the CAST centers program earlier that day, partially led Demi into doing a small one.

Skyscraper is always so powerful live, especially if you consider the sad yet wowing fact that the studio version was the last song she recorded before going to treatment in 2010 and her voice is all fragile and vulnerable, and it sounds so much stronger live! Her beautiful white outfit she was performing it in reminded me of her white dress in the music video, and somehow the lights were on extra bright which I felt enhanced it.

Vibe change! Triple-Platinum hit Give Your Heart A Break was second-to-last and my phone had just died (I had a charger for after, I was fine!) so I just jumped around and sang every single word and I’m also convinced that this song contributed to the sore throat the next day thing.

Cool For The Summer was probably one of the sexiest end songs in history?! ALL OF THE HEART EYES AND FLAME EMOJIS!!!!!!!!!!! Take me dowwwwnnnnnnnnnn!!!

It was a life changing/making experience. Only Jingle Ball 2015 comes near to matching it, and this was probably 5x as good, considering the focus was mainly Demi. Infinity/10 ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

OHHHHHHHH I THOUGHT NOTHING COULD TOP LAST YEAR’S JINGLE BALL AND SEEING/MEETING DEMI THERE!!! I. THOUGHT.

Funny, when I was talking to a friend about my jingle ball experience last year, she said “But next year’s gonna beat it though.” I didn’t believe it, I couldn’t understand what could beat seeing 4 of my absolute favorite artists and meeting Queen Demi (once).

My twitter icon for about 7 months was my first picture with Demi. I told another friend, “Good luck getting me to change it!” She said I had a right to keep it “until the next time you meet her” and I said yes, but I was thinking “Oh sure, I don’t know if that’ll EVER happen again.”

Then, Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 happened, and I’ve never been so delightfully proven wrong!!!!!

HANGING ON THE ROOF WITH DEMI AND NICK?!?!?! AKA WHAT MIGHT BE THE BEST RADIO PARTY IN HISTORY!!

Wednesday September 7th, 2016.

This day probably sounds pretty average to most of you reading this. But, this was one of the most magical, incredible, overwhelming, memorable, and wonderful days/nights of my life as both a fangirl, and as a person. It literally felt like everything I could have ever wanted, thought of, and/or dreamed of as a Demi Lovato superfan and Nick Jonas fan, was right in front of me. This event was just the beginning. (Post one out of two about this DREAMLIKE day!)

Background: Seeing how I got tickets to Demi and Nick’s future now tour, I decided that I’d check on local radio stations to see if they were doing anything with the show like giving away upgrades and such. Turns out, THEY WERE DOING BETTER!!!

Their promise: A pool party on the rooftop of a hotel, with both Demi AND Nick attending!!

Well, that’s DEFINITELY enough to make me try my hardest to get in!!!! They had call in times at 5:40 pm, 9:40 pm, (though I had to tune in at 9 and catch what their top 9 songs were because they’d ask for one. I’m surprised at how much fun I had doing that!) and 7:40 am. I am SO not a morning person, but for Demi, I set an alarm, and I had my earbuds, laptop, and phone in bed with me, ready to go.

I tried my hardest at the call in route for a week, (It’s annoying when you get the station’s phone to ring instead of giving you the busy signal, but then, no one answers. Quit playing with my hope, it’s not a toy!!) but it wasn’t working.

At this point, I had been stalking the station’s twitter and instagram accounts for updates, and I finally got a good chance. The station sent out a car with contest passes in it, and they put out hints as to where the car was. Well, as I know, Demi loves a good scavenger hunt, and Uber/Lyft exists, so it was on! ( *sings Camp Rock 2* show me show me show me show what you got, c,mon c,mon c,mon, c,mon ready or not, la la la la la la let me see how you rock, it’s on it’s on it’s on)

They first said that the location was legendary and that they almost got lost finding it. I checked Google and there’s this bar in downtown Nashville called Legends so I put that address into Lyft, but someone tweeted the station asking about that and they replied “Is it (there) though?” which made me question it, but I figured I’d try to at least head downtown.

While in the Lyft, I saw that there next hint said, “You won’t be BLUE if you find our ticket truck,” and I sat there for a minute or so until it suddenly hit me where they were!

There’s this legendary place in Nashville called the Bluebird Cafe, where famous singers including Queen Taylor Swift herself, got started doing gigs in. It also happens to be slightly tricky to find, located within a strip mall area.

Considering this place logically made sense, I changed the drop off address, and waited impatiently with my heart racing in my chest. When the Lyft pulled into the parking-lot THERE WAS THE TICKET TRUCK, SURE ENOUGH!!!

I went over and talked with the lady, gave her my name and info while literally shaking, and took this picture in front of the truck.

The truck drove away, since only one could win, and I sat on the sidewalk in front of the cafe completely shocked and freaking out! I’D BE SEEING DEMI AND NICK BY THE POOL SIX DAYS FROM THEN!!!!!!!

An added plus was that winning this also kind of boosted my self-esteem a bit because figuring out the scavenger hunt before anyone else did made me feel pretty smart!! I can also clearly remember the moment where I figured it out, and it felt very good!! 🙂 Not at all bad for a girl that’s only been in Nashville for 8 months of last year!!

The PARTY!:

Ok, let me say that I’ve never felt pre-event excitement/nerves quite this big before, I was just this ball of nervous, excited, and happy energy, and thinking about this day obsessively. I had to drink warm milk the night before and make extra efforts to focus on my school reading (which normally, I’m quite good with).

I wore a tank top with palm trees, jean shorts, and my sunset/ocean flip flops with a sparkly purple strap. I had my bathing suit under my clothes, but didn’t swim any, because I didn’t wanna meet Nick and Queen Demi with my hair wet! It sucks, because it was boiling hot outside, but anyway.

Somehow I made it through class, and up to the Hilton Garden Inn. The radio station had a check in table in the hotel lobby and as I’m heading over, a girl sitting on the lobby couch asked me if I had a plus one for the event. I didn’t, (I probably would have, had it been in Texas) so I let her join me.

This lead to instant hugs, instant “thank you’s”, instant Snapchat selfies, and an instant squad of 3 other girls for the group meet and greet pics (Evenly divided too! Me and one girl were bigger Lovatics, so we’d go next to Demi, and the other two were bigger Jonas fans, so they’d go next to Nick.)

There is no item (ok maybe the m&g pic itself!)  that is more exciting to a fan than A MEET AND GREET WRISTBAND!! ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE MEETING THEIR FAVE/IDOL/CHILDHOOD!!! YAAASSS!!!

This was their setup, and it’s pretty dang AWESOME!!!! When they told us we were “the 50 luckiest people in Nashville,” I definitely could feel it!! The setup was a blessing, the fact that freaking Demi and Nick would be there after an hour or so was a definite blessing, and the fact that I had people to enjoy this with who I could talk to about them, was also a blessing!! Alexus kept thanking me because, without me, she would’ve been sitting in the lobby sad the whole time. I’m actually pretty glad that I didn’t have one before. (Though, I won’t mind if that changes! Concert buddy and/or bae applications accepted over here!!)

For something as nerve-wracking and excitement-inducing as meeting 1/3 (Demi and Nick out of, Demi,  Jonas bros, Miley and Selena) of your Disney Channel childhood faves, (AGAIN, I might add. AS IN, FOR. THE. SECOND. TIME. EACH!!) the waiting was pretty low-key. Me and the new pool party squad just hung out with our feet in the water, listening and singing with the radio’s music.

Soon after, the radio people brought us to the fence, and we were told Demi and Nick would arrive soon, do an interview with the station, and then meet and hang out with us. (So much for the hang out part! Famous people just HAVE TO be late, but that’s okay!)

One of the squad said that they saw Demi’s best friend Marissa in the window but unfortunately I didn’t!

LOVE IT!!) , BUT I HEARD MY SUNSHINE DEMI’S BEAUTIFUL ICONIC LAUGH IN PERSON, AND IT WAS ONE OF THE SWEETEST MOST PERFECT THINGS I HAVE EVER HEARD IN MY ENTIRE 19 YEARS OF EXISTENCE ON THIS PLANET!! Here’s the interview! (FYI: actual thing starts at about 4:00) It’s GREAT AND HILARIOUS!! (I mean, it did have Queen Demi herself laughing!) I love the concept of asking them questions about each other. You get to find out what Nick thinks Demi would get arrested for, what he thinks her yearbook superlative would be, and what she thinks he should get a tattoo of!

The girl saying “I love you” to Demi, (WHO SAID IT BACK!) name was Taylor and she was part of my rooftop squad, and I’m just over here hitting my head against the wall for not thinking of saying that first.

TWO OF THE PEOPLE COVERING THE ENTIRETY OF HER LOCKER, BINDERS, AND ROOM, ESPECIALLY THE DOORS (It used to be covered in Demi and the Jonas Brothers, but became entirely Demi as my love for her dramatically increased). TWO PEOPLE WHO’S ALBUMS WERE ON A RELIGIOUS LOOP (Here We Go Again by Demi much?! A Little Bit Longer was excellent too!) ON HER FIRST LITTLE PURPLE IPOD! TWO PEOPLE WHO, MIDDLE SCHOOL THROUGH COLLEGE, SHE COULD COUNT ON TO CHEER HER UP NO MATTER WHAT WAS HAPPENING IN HER LIFE, AND WHO SHE COULD LOVE AND SUPPORT UNCONDITIONALLY.

I was a big Jonas Brothers fan, and I’m currently LIVING FOR Nick’s solo career, but, when both Nick and Demi are put in front of me to meet, and meet and greets last only about 40 seconds, BYE NICK! I went right up to Demi, and kind of ignored Nick. Oops? (This is why I count myself as having met Nick 1.5 times instead of 2)

So, I was too shocked to say anything this time, probably cause both of them at once combined with a group picture was HELLA intimidating to me. (Fact: It’s very easy at meet and greets for your brain to kind of shut down. Especially if whatever celeb (s) is (are) very important to you.)  I kind of just walked up to Demi, and PUT MY ARM ON HER BACK AND HAND ON HER SHOULDER FOR A GOOD FIVE SECONDS!!! OMGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!

After the m&g, I was pretty shook, but I had to calm down to talk with the squad and not flip the hell out externally (Internally was a different story!!) when Taylor showed me the m&g video for the first time. I hung with the group for a bit, awkwardly featured in Taylor’s vlog, spotted Nemi’s helicopter outside with them (!!), and almost got lunch with them, but then I HAD TO DASH OUT FOR MY DEMI VIP, I WAS IN A TIME CRUNCH!!

I’m SO DAMN LUCKY AND BLESSED!! I don’t know how I did it!!! How is it that the radio station in my new home state came to throw this particular SPECIAL contest at the right time!?!? Body Say was released on iTunes on July 15th, the same day as new music  Katy Perry, Britney Spears, 5 Seconds of Summer and Zayn and not tweeted about until that afternoon, because Demi’s management/promo team are/have always been IDIOTS that don’t give a damn about her success, and she needs to stop being so ignorant! From what I’ve seen, our fanbase could promote her way better!  (Hire me Demi, I have ideas!) It really pisses me off that she doesn’t get even a third of the success she deserves, but anyway let’s get to the song!!

If this is a teaser for her 6th album (D6 in fan speak, since we don’t know the title yet), I’M. NOT. PREPARED!!!!!

OHHHH. GOSSHH.!!!!!!!!!!! How do I even begin with this? MY LIFE IS MADEEEEEE!!

Some background: I make it pretty dang obvious how much I love, support, and stan Demi. She’s INCREDIBLY TALENTED, INSANELY GORGEOUS, AND ISN’T AFRAID TO HOLD ANYTHING BACK!!  She went from being one of my favorite artists when I was in 5th grade (When Get Back came on Radio Disney I was in LOVE and I made up *lame* dance moves!), to basically becoming my everything in 8th and 9th. (I’ve only switched faves once, because I was REALLY into Hannah Montanna in middle school partially because my friend got me into it, and partially because Hannah/Miley had some SICK JAMS! Haha good times, but slowly I came to my senses, and realized who the real queen was! Why was choosing to buy the ICONIC album Here We Go Again instead of the third Hannah soundtrack EVER even a debate?) Back to 8th grade/2010 during this switch of favorites and obsessing over her music/Sonny with a chance, I realized “Hey meeting Demi would be the coolest thing ever!” *Cue HORRIBLE failed m&g experience at a hot and overcrowded mall that I wish I could erase from my mind forever*  Anyway, that just proves how much better things can really get!!! After 7 years of wishing to meet my fave/idol/queen/sunshine (5 of which where spent INTENSELY WISHING!)  IT. FINALLY. HAPPENED.!!!!! HECK YEAAHHHH!!!!!!! 😀

The Announcement: If you don’t know what Jingle Ball is, it’s basically a magical, tiny concert tour that pop radio stations put on during the month of December “Why is it so magical?” you might ask.. Well, that’s because it takes some of the best artists and upcoming artists and puts them all on one epic concert lineup!! So, I found out this BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING, SHOW was coming to my home state and the lineup included DEMI (as well as my two fave bands! Post on Jingle Ball coming up next! )  My problem was that this HEAVEN happened on December 1st, which was two days after I was supposed to return to college.

That’s when… I got a little more encouragement to make sure I was in Texas. Or.. A LOT MORE! 😉

HOLD ON A SECOND!!! How much did I pay to be blessed with the presence of Queen Demi next to me???? How much did I pay for my life to be made????

13 freaking dollars! HOW??? THIS WAS ACTUALLY A REAL THING!!! Every celebrity in the industry (including Demi in the past) usually has meet and greets that cost HUNDREDS of dollars (ESPECIALLY WITH CONCERTS)! 13. DOLLARS.!! The same cost as a nice meal! THIS WAS A LITERAL HOLIDAY MIRACLE!!!!! I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE THIS WAS A THING! I’m giving the biggest thanks in the world to whoever made this a real thing!!

Taking on THAT deal was such a no-brainer! I bought it without tickets to the concert or my parent’s permission to not fly back to Nashvile for college…oops. I basically wrote my parents an essay length text to persuade them to let me do this. #FunFactz  #WORTHIT #WaitThisIsDemiNotFifthHarmony…lol

The Experience: Finally, December 1st, 2015 (ONE OF THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE!!!) came around!! It happened in Dallas, Texas (Demi’s and my hometown!! YESS!!) at this bar place called the Jack Daniels club which was near the concert arena. (Yes, I think it’s kind of funny that this was at a bar..) I wore my black studded boots,(fetus rocker Demi much?) black pants, and a comfy new blue shirt with sliver and gold patterns that was slightly holiday-ish. I got it the day before, because why wouldn’t you turn meeting your fave into an excuse to shop?! So, basically all day I kept freaking out and then calming back down every 20 minutes or so, which was pretty darn insane!!  I arrived at the place around 2:00 since check in was supposed to be from 2-4. I’d say I was probably towards where the middle of the line started because I knew a lot of people came later but it was about 40 minutes before I got to check in. When I got to check in, I recognized Holly from Demi’s team and she asked my name and gave me my wristband, which made me excited all over again. IT WAS A PLAIN ORANGE WRISTBAND BUT IT MIGHT AS WELL HAVE BEEN WILLY WONKA’S GOLDEN TICKET!!

I probably waited a total of around 4 hours and it was freaking cold outside! But where Queen Demi is concerned “The cold never bothered me anyway”! I thought it’d start earlier but the doors didn’t open for a while! Towards the end, Demi’s security guard Max walked by me, and not much later, the doors finally opened. There was a smaller room and a bigger room and Demi was in the bigger room. Time literally felt sped up once I entered the building, the line was moving and my main thoughts were about what I was gonna say and about getting my jacket off (kinda random but I didn’t wanna be wearing it). Once in the big room, there was a security table so I basically threw it down there. Because the m&g was only $13, they had the photos be group pics, so during the grouping my main thought was “I MUST BE RIGHT NEXT TO HER!” Then, I was right next to the curtain, GOT A FULL GLIMPSE OF PERFECTION (YES, SHE’S JUST AS FREAKING STUNNING IN PERSON!!), AND WOUND UP NEXT TO HER ON THE LEFT!! I know I manage to say “Hi Demi” and she also said “Hi” and SHE PUT HER ARM ON MY BACK!!!!!!!!!! (OMMFFFFGGGGGGGGGGGGGG) and then I said “I love you SO much!” on my way out and I looked directly at her perfect smile and IT WAS OVER QUICKLY! Right, afterwards I teared up a little, but basically felt shocked BECAUSE IT FELT SO DREAMLIKE AND I COULDN’T FULLY WRAP MY HEAD AROUND THE FACT IT FINALLY HAPPENED!! Outside, I actually refused to put my jacket back on because her arm was on my back, and the jacket would have ruined it haha! I also could not type on my phone without typos because I think my fingers were shaking!!

It’s cuter from a distance because when you look at me I think you can tell that I’m freaking out on the inside! Also I DIDN’T REMEMBER PUTTING MY ARM ON HER TOO, so that’s kind of EVERYTHING that there’s freaking photo evidence of that!!!

Conclusion : Completing your dreams and meeting your fave artists/idols/sunshines is TOTALLY POSSIBLE if you keep at it, no matter how long you wait!! It feels SO DAMN AMAZING  WHEN YOU DO!!! ❤ ❤ ❤  Basically it’s like an explosion of glitter, happiness, shockedness, excitement ALL THE FEELS COLLECTED FROM 5 YEARS OF SUPERFANDOM, rainbows, soft puppies, unicorns, and chocolate all contained in a memory that you can bring up whenever you want!! AWESOME!!

CONFIDENT, FIERCE, SOULFUL SLAYAGE! Album Review: Confident -Demi Lovato

(Shame on me not promoting my queen with this earlier!! She’s in competition with Pentatonix and pre-orders and it’s freaking annoying because she should be slaying the #1 spot!)

THIS ALBUM IS SUCH A MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!! I actually, seriously think she’s outdone her other albums!!! QUEEN. DEMI. HAS. BLESSED. US. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So last Friday was quite the day!! I felt like I was under attack due to Demi, 1D, and 5SOS all releasing stuff!! BUT IT WAS MAINLY BECAUSE MY FAVE, IDOL, AND QUEEN OF MY WORLD RELEASED HER FIFTH ALBUM AFTER A 2 YEAR WAIT AND IT’S EVERYTHING!!!!  This whole album era I really feel, has given me everything I could possibly want from Demi and WAY MORE! She’s in such a good place with herself and there is nothing in her way anymore to stop her from being super on point, bearing all the emotion, and well, slaying some bitches as this album proves! Between empowerment, sexy dance jams, and beautiful soulful ballads, Confident has songs for many things and Demi is on her way out from being overly underrated and on her way to the top of the charts AND her well-deserved grammy (s)!!!! ❤

ARE WE READY?!

Confident: MY ANTHEEMM!!! You know she means business though the second you hear the trumpets (which really compliments the song live btw!!) She’s ready to walk into the room and snatch weaves!  She. freaking. runs. the. show.!!!! Also way to call out her faulty record company, the media, and people who live under a rock for underrating her talent and awesomeness for too long! Hopefully this albums gonna change that!! The energy and encouragement of this song are also very empowering! It makes me wanna own the world and be confident too just like my queen!!

Cool For The Summer: (Shoutout to the first song I reviewed on this site!) THAT PIANO RIFF AND BEAT THOUGH!! Demi’s breathy voice is definitely one of my favorite things ever!! Can I please visit Demi’s paradise? Where do I sign up? 😉 It may not be summer anymore, but this song is still my JAMM!!!

Old Ways: I was dancing to this one the very first time I heard the album tbh! I got HYPED AF!!! There’s beautiful visual lyrics, rhyming, and then there’s that beat drop!! Freaking awesome!! I love the concept and how she could make such a fun, upbeat jam out of it! The bridge goes from strong, to breathy, to that amazing Demi-style high note slayage and I’m completely living for that! (The machine voice part is a little weird but whatever!)  I vote that this becomes a single!

For You: So it starts with her sweet heavenly voice on the verse, right? BAM! There comes that powerful chorus and it’s freaking incredible! I love that buildup though! I have definitely felt that feeling of being too dedicated to someone that won’t pay you attention (not just with celebs either but yes, that too.) and this song really fits that!! I also love how powerful it is like DANG DEMI!!

Stone Cold: Pure. raw. emotion. and. vocal. slayage. !!!!! THIS SONG IS PERFECT AND DEFINITELY 100% DESERVES A GRAMMY!

Anyway, the song is a beautiful experience and you can feel the emotion she puts into it especially in the live versions! Personally, I currently have a crush on a guy with a girlfriend, so this one definitely has hit a nerve with me before. CAN WE TALK ABOUT HER VOCALS FOR A SECOND HERE?! WHOAAA DANNGG!!! ESPECIALLY THE NOTE TOWARDS THE END!!! THAT ONE CONTINUES TO BLOW MY MIND AND SENDS ME STRAIGHT TO THE GATES OF HEAVEN!! ALL. MY. HAIR. IS. GONE. it’s that damn impressive!! If you were only gonna pick one song off the album to hear, or if you somehow have any doubts about Demi, you need to hear this song! You need to treat yourself and listen to this song anyway!

Kingdom Come (ft Iggy Azalea) : SUCH A JAM!!!! I love the line about golden souls. The pre-chorus is super fun and it gets me SO HYPED! The lines and the whole song are so different from anything I’ve heard as well, and different in a really good way! She uses her powerful vocals in the chorus for both this and the next song and it’s like “Alright I’m done, you show off Demi!” 😉 I believe “Sit me on your throne” is such an iconic line!! I also don’t believe she’s talking about an actual throne! 😉 THIS SONG HAS THE BEST BEAT OF ANY DEMI SONG EVER SO FAR IMO!!! And then there’s Iggy.. I ACTUALLY LIKE IGGY’S PART OKAY? (I’m also trying to learn it and do it alone in my room..) It goes with the song. The line “Long live the queen what the people say” is totally about Demi haha! I laugh at the way Iggy says Steve and I totally mis-heard Espy as Nasty. I really want this one to be a single as well because it’s so fun!!

Waitin for You (ft Sirah): It’s so intense, I freaking love it! I don’t know about you but I love picturing Demi as a fierce lioness queen ready to pounce! RAWR! It’s essentially about Demi waiting to fight fake bitches who backstabbed her or anyone who has issues with he, (WHY WOULD YOU?) and I AM LIVING FOR THIS CONCEPT! That back beat is awesome and I love how the verses are slow as if she was prepping for a fight, and then the chorus is THE SHOW DOWN!! She freaking goes hard!! Don’t mess with Demi or she’ll give you a black eye to match the eye of her backup dancer in 2010!  I like the grunt that’s in there for two different reasons. I like the line “Talkin’ bout my bad habits man fuck my bad habits don’t act like you don’t have none” and I’m pretty sure I get too much enjoyment out of Demi swearing (#LovaticProblems). I like the rap too, apparently Sirah is a friend of Demi’s. I’m pretty sure this song is the definition of badass!

Wildfire: It’s basically Cool For the Summer’s sexier and more experienced older sibling. (Who let Demi in the studio right after being with Wilmer?) The intro sounds worthy of a rap song and it’s a slow jam with a breathy chorus! The hotness of the song definitely lives up to the fire that it mentions! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Some of these lyrics pretty much go there.. I wanna mention that I think this is the catchiest song on the whole album! It stuck around in my head quite a couple times, even when we just had the song snippets! AND IF THAT WASN’T ENOUGH THERE’S FREAKING WHISTLE NOTES AT THE END!! DAAAMMNNN!!! Lord help me if Demi ever preforms this live…

Lionheart: I actually believe this is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my 18 years of existence! The lyrics are so beautiful, her voice is just something else as always, and it’s pure calmness, happiness, and adorableness ! “Your love will be my armor tonight” is such adorable, amazing line! To add a bit of emotion, Demi used to have a little puppy named Buddy, that she basically treated like a son. Then, heartbreakingly, one day he got eaten by a coyote. She says this song now reminds her of Buddy, and that he’s her lionheart and that’s so beautiful! (If I get emotional during this one, this story is why! Screw Coyotes!! 😦 )

Yes: Mark my words, I am playing this at my future wedding! Dang Demi, I think I just stepped in a church with this!! IT’S SO SOULFUL AND ADORABLEE!!! YOU GOTTA LOVE LOVE!!! ❤ ❤ I wasn’t expecting this, it’s soo good!!! If Wilmer proposes to her while she performs this and/or it plays at their wedding, I AM GONNA HAVE ALL. THE. FEELS. !!!! IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN SO BAD!!!

Father: 😦 OH MAN. I was right about this being For the Love of a Daughter part two, but instead of showing anger, Demi’s showing forgiveness. The song is beautiful and the fact that she’s sharing this part of her background through song is also really beautiful. (And just saying, we didn’t leave the church when we switched songs!)

Stars:  This is the first bonus track and if you’re listening to the deluxe album (which you should be) it’s quite the mood change after Father! DANCE JAM PARTY TIME!!!!! The verses are pure pop/dance ish, and then the chorus comes in sounding prettier and it’s actually inspirational and I just love that! I love the living in the moment lines and we’re all stars and it’s all empowering, fun, and happy! Then NATURALLY THERE’S A SICK FREAKING BEAT DROP! I’m a little bitter about them not sticking the beat on the end of the song as well, but it’s STILL AWESOME!

Mr. Hughes: ENDING IT WITH A FREAKING BANG!!!! Bless the vocals, bless the sass, bless the cackle, bless Demi just freaking going at him!!!!!!  Backstory: Demi dated a guy named Scott Hughes when she was in high school and I guess she’s finally just giving him what he deserves! I kind of want a little more context on what he did though, because frankly I’m curious. Nice shoutout to Wilmer on here haha it’s the best!!

Album Rating: Infinity/10 GIVE HER ALL THE GRAMMYS, THIS IS HER BEST ALBUM AND THE LOVATIC’S (or YOU NEED TO BE, JUST GIVE STONE COLD A FREAKING LISTEN!) BIBLE!!! Demi is everything, just take in her world for a little while…
